Content Style Guide

Icertis (B2B) provides an efficient and intelligent contract management platform for enterprises.

I streamlined the iconography and terminology across a rapidly evolving platform in order to create a consistent user experience.

The Problem

The language and icons in the platform
were inconsistent and confusing for users

The team lacked clear guidelines for designing the user experience

To help fix the icons, I logged every single icon in the platform and documented how they were being used.

This process highlighted redundancies and lack of cohesiveness in the iconography.

Next, I focused on the terminology. I grouped the related terms in the platform together and determined the specific use case for each one, using the Microsoft Manual of Style as reference. For example:

 “Add” is used for lists
 “Create” is used for containers
 “New” is used universally

Based on these findings, I prescribed the most fitting option for each aspect of the platform. This served as a reference guide for redesigning the existing user experience and creating new ones.

Outcome

Standardization helped create a more mature look and feel for the platform.
